Is this an April fool´s joke?

two posts in one day! after I posted A different viewpoint
I checked my email.I found that I received an award. Here is the email:

Hello there,
Tripbase Awards 2011

I am pleased to inform you that your site has been chosen to receive a Tripbase 2011 Blog Award.

This year our panel of judges reviewed hundreds of sites from across the Internet before hand-selecting the best ten for each travel category. Your site is among these elite ranks, and can be seen here:

I would like to congratulate you on your continued hard work and achievement in winning a Tripbase Award – this year, the awards have been featured in CNBC, CBS and AOL News. We have created small and large badges for you to show off your achievement to your readers, so please feel free to grab the code and upload it onto your site.

Well done once again, and keep up the great work.

Kind Regards,

Claire Tucker

Of course, I checked it out. After looking at the website, I sent the following email:

I appreciate the award, though you got the name of my blog incorrect. It’s called ¿What do I do all day? not Theresa in Mérida though I can see how you might have been confused.

But I was still puzzled as to why I got an award for Spanish cuisine? A light went on, so I sent the following addendum to my first email:

ps.FYI I am in Mérida, Yucatán, México  NOT Mérida, Spain nor Mérida, Venezuela

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t an April Fools Day joke, but I wonder if I get to keep the award?

About Theresa

Born in New York City, I grew up in California, and have lived in 3 countries and 6 states. I'm a first generation Cuban-American who lives in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. I'm committed to living an abundant and creative life and helping others do so too through DIY!

  1. Judy, I’m sure that there are plenty of real awards, with real prizes other than a “button’ for your blog. However, I would assume you’d get notice that you were in the running.
we could start our own award!

  2. So that the deal with the awards I see for different blogs. Interesting!

  3. Gloria, I am sure it’s legit, but I don’t blog Spanish food. I doubt that I have ever posted a recipe from Spain. I think that the website got my location confused. Of course they want me to copy their button, it gives them a link, which boosts their web presence, which makes them show up sooner on searches. If only they had made the award about Mexico, then I might have believed them.

  4. Congrats on the award. It’s legit. I patronize a couple of the blogsites they have listed. I guess you copy the award on the sidebar and paste in on your sidebar. Yay for you!
