mind control necklace

Do not attempt to adjust your monitor. We control the vertical, we control the horizontal. Do you remember that from the Outer Limits?
Husband says that this necklace makes him think of the old sci fi movies in which the villains use crystals to exercise mind control over their victims.

Here is an even closer view. I haven’t super glued the knots yet, so there are little pieces of nylon sticking out. Sloppy, I know. Are you under my power yet?

I really like it, even if I have no where to wear it. Here is a close up of the loop and fringe, I did spiral herringbone stitch which I just learned this year. I like that the clasp goes in the front and makes the necklace have shape.

Okay, you are released from my spell. Go back to reading blogs.

  1. Hi,

I begin on internet with a directory

  2. GirlGriot, Maybe it needs to be renamed the Pied Piper Necklace? LOL..thanks for stopping by!
    regards,
    Theresa

  3. Wow, fabulous necklace! I don’t know about mind control, but if I saw you on the street, I’d definitely follow you around until I could get a closer look at it!!

    Lovely work.

  4. La Gringa, thanks for stopping by and commenting. I had fun making the necklace and writing the post. What more can I ask for?

    regards,
    Theresa

  5. Yes, it’s beautiful, but the article was really funny, too. Very clever.

  6. Teresa, we all have different talents, I am glad you like the necklace.

    regards,
    Theresa

  7. Theresa, I can’t believe that you made such a cool necklace! You are so talented with all the things that I am worthless with. It is absolutely beautiful!

  8. Nancy, Yucatan Living just did an interview with a hypnotherapist here in Merida, do you think I might interest him in buying my necklace? LOL…

Michele, you are a doll to say that, thank you.

    regards,
    Theresa

  9. That is absolutely stunning. You never cease to amaze us!!

  10. Theresa, Again, you outdid yourself. And I am wondering how it would look with jeans and a tee shirt… ok maybe it’s a little hot for jeans but a tee shirt anyway.

And I think you would have to make a pendant and swing it back and forth to get mind control on me!

  11. AMiM, I am glad you enjoyed it.

Jackie, I had to laugh because I only have very casual clothes and very dress, not much in between. I actually miss office clothes.

RCiT, a wrist injury would be my definition of hell. my sympathy goes out to you.

    regards,
    Theresa

  12. I love it. The colors are amazing! Man I am really impressed with your hand work. My hands are almost totally useless at this point. (old hand injuries)

    Keep up the beautiful work.

  13. That is a great looking necklace whether you wear it with casual or dressy clothes.

  14. Nice presentation: the post and the necklace 🙂

  15. Steve,Thanks, I will correct the post. I used to watch both shows.

Joanna, that’s an idea.I’ll think on it.

Rummy, I love boho! But I don’t own a white shirt or a lacy cami!

Islagringo,Thanks for the encouragement. I don’t think of myself as a trend setter.

Ron, Husband will only go as far as to say it’s cute. I must question him further!

Amanda, people dress up here too, I haven’t really looked at their jewelry, I mostly look at their shoes.

CJ & MN,I didn’t have to tie that many knots, just when I needed to add thread. But the line is like fishing line. I don’t like the transparent nylon because it’s really hard to see, and sometimes I don’t catch mistakes right away with it.

Mimi, I have no idea what I was thinking about when I did that! But I had fun last night and I got to wear my necklace!

    regards,
    Theresa

  16. So, that’s why you wanted me to see if it fit around my head!
    Hugs Mimi

  17. Wow. You must have some kind of patience to tie all of those knots. If you’re ever in Salem, maybe you could tie some fishing leads and hooks for Mike…I’m sure they’d look a lot prettier than the ones I do for his failing eyes!

  18. Wow great work, I love it. I dont know about where you are in Mexico but people around here wear beautiful jewelry like that every day. You should throw it on in the morning and show it off all day regardless of where your going.

  19. Does anyone else think that looks sexy? I suspect Husband does.

  20. As usual, you have scored a triumph. Wear it to breakfast, wear it to sweep the floors, wear it to Centro, just wear it because it makes YOU feel good! Throw caution to the wind and start a new trend!

  21. That necklace is abfab… I see a crisp white shirt, a lacy cami under and the necklace over… it’s boho, romantic and dramatic. Very artistic and technical of you at the same time!

  22. It’s gorgeous. I think you could wear it grocery shopping.

  23. I concur with the rest of the jury — a very nice piece.

As a child of the 60s, thugh, I will point out that the line you used is from “The Outer Limits,” rather than “The Twilight Zone.” I know that, not from memory, but because some smart-alec pointed it out to me when I used it. I guess I know what category that places me in.

  24. Jonna, muh hahaha…I’ll never tell.

Bob, thank you. I like things to be asymmetrical sometimes,it’s more dynamic. I had to go look up Adrian Monk because the only Monk that I could think of is Thelonius.

glorv1, thank you. Even for Mexico it’s a little over the top for grocery shopping. Right now my duct tape double is wearing it.

    regards,
    Theresa

  25. I think it is beautiful Theresa. Sure you have places to wear it, when you go shopping, the show, or even in your kitchen while you’re cooking. Hey why not, it’s a beauty.

  26. Theresa,
First of all it is an incredibly beautiful piece. It really is hypnotic. I think that men who use a four-in-hand knot in their tie would find the off-center aspect perfectly fine but if one is an “Adrian Monk” compulsive type like I am then one might find the off center aspect to be a little disconcerting. However, the piece is so pretty that perhaps the off center look will be lost in the fact that it is so alluringly exotic 🙂

  27. That is gorgeous!!

((I think I meant to say that or did you implant that thought?))
