Playing catch-up

When I start getting emails wondering how I am doing, it’s time to touch base with my two or three remaining readers.

First things first, I am not putting the house up for sale. Let’s just say, it’s not the right time. While I would like to have the extra money in my savings account, it isn’t urgent. I am, however, fixing things and painting. With the exchange rate so good, it’s a great time to do so. I’ve been tracking my expenditures and I’m managing to live well within my widow’s pension though it’s really too soon to have an accurate picture.

My reconstruction surgery is delayed. First there was the problem where the inexperienced nurse opened up my sutures. Finally, after waiting an extra long time for the new stitches to heal (3 weeks!), Dr. L removed them. He gave me an appointment the following week to have my first “inflation”.  Sadly, it was not to be. He is out on medical leave. After waiting another 3 weeks, I showed up for my appointment, and he is still out. The doctor covering for him gave me a chit for an appointment next week, but there weren’t any available until the end of March. So I’m thinking that I won’t be done with this thing until August the earliest. Sigh, looks like the universe wants me to practice patience.

Door 54 Oscar partyI did find out that I can wear my prosthesis with a strapless gown. Door 54 had an Oscar party. We were encouraged to dress up or come in costume. Since I never did get a chance to wear the black strapless formal gown hanging in my closet, that’s what I wore. With a tiara, really, when was I ever going to get to wear a tiara? BK agreed to come as my date, since there was a prize for the most glamorous couple.

  1. Oh my God, you look great! No one would have the slightest clue as to what you’ve been through.

    You go, girl!

Where we love the idea that you wore the tiara too!

  2. Welcome back Theresa

  3. I just read your 26 day-old post, “Catch-up.” The never-ending state of my life is catch-up. There always seem to be so many ways I have fallen behind. Keeping up with friends is one of them. I hope we can get together soon Theresa. We both have lots to catch-up on

    • Argh, 26 day? I actually have two unfinished blog posts waiting to be published, I guess I had better get back on the horse and ride.

It’s hard to keep up with everyone some times, you do the best job of it that I know. I saw Jorge and the rest of your family briefly at the Slow Foods market last week. Your granddaughter is even more beautiful in person. Thanks for stopping by and reading.

  4. Nice…Nice to see you back in the swing, and looking fabulous…You are a good model…not only ‘fashionwise’ but, also ‘lifewise’ in terms of how to live, and how to move on. I still love reading your posts. You go, girl!

  5. WOW! Smokin’! I love this! What a fun time. Was wondering how you’ve been doing and how nice to see you here. We may think timing sucks sometimes but it is always in perfect accord with The Higher Ups. Always Divine. Patience, yes. Just breathe through it. Meanwhile you’re absolutely gorgeous. Rock it.

    • Barbara, thank you. Both for the compliments and the reminder about the divine. I have always said that everything happens just as it should but sometimes you need to get a little distance from it to understand.

It’s been almost 4 months now and I’ve gone from crying several times a day to several times a week. Thanks to my wonderful friends who make sure that I get out and about, I’ve been doing things new things and going to new places. It’s weird sometimes but I’m healing.

  6. You look absolutely gorgeous, you definitely deserved to win.

    • Brenda,
Thank you, not bad for someone who is going to be 61 soon, right? All in all it was fun, fun to go to the party, fun to get dressed up, and fun to win (sad but true, I do have a competitive streak).

  7. Thanks for the check-in. I first started following your blog because of your DIY ingenuity. We seem to have the same outlook that way. Looking forward to some inspiration from your remodeling. And paint is my answer to almost everything. 🙂 You look fabulous in your Oscar attire.

  8. So, did you take the prize? I would have given it to you.
