Best Blogger Conference Yet!

Returning from the 4th Annual Latin American Blogger’s Conference brimming with new ideas. I just don’t know what I enjoyed more, the panel discussion, Barry and Marc’s presentations or the workshop on blogger (the wordpress people had their own workshop). I am amazed at the talent and knowledge of the bloggers who came to the conference and their generosity in sharing their knowledge. There was an underlying theme that freely sharing information benefits everyone.I  believe that is true, in life and in blogging. Because of the conference, I am going to look into an off-line editor that hopefully will eliminate some formatting issues that I have been having placing photos in my blog. I’m also going to take the time to finally update my blogroll. There are a couple of other things that I am planning on trying out.

Worn out but happy

Breakfast this morning marked the end of The 3rd Latin American Blogger’s Conference.  It went well. Thirty-one bloggers  RSVP’d,  and twenty two were able to attend the conference, it would have been amazing if it had been the other way around, but we made up in quality for quantity. Hopefully, the stars will align better next year and everyone who wanted to come will be able to attend. Steve Cotton of Same Life-New Location has already blogged three times about the conference! Steve’s presentation about copyright law and internet ethics thorough and enjoyable. He boiled it down to “if it isn’t yours, don’t take it”.While I haven’t found anyone using my postings on the their blog, this is a topic that I feel strongly about.  Having already said my piece in the post entitled “Where’s Roy Rodgers when you need him?  I won’t repeat myself. Speaking of repeating myself, somehow, I left my notes at home for my presentation, but ...

Y’all come now!

I love the word y’all. It’s English for ustedes. You is English for usted and thee means tu. Spanish lesson aside, I spent  today sending out emails to all the bloggers that  either have attended past blogger meet and greets or said that they want to attend this year. Even with 35 people in the contact list for the convention, I am afraid that I missed someone. I also have spamfolderphobia, a irrational fear that my emails are ending up in spam folders and never seen by the intended recipients. The convention is soon, Friday, November 12th is the meet and greet, if you are coming please send an email to the registration email account which is theresainmexico at gmail dot com. Please send me your urrl so I can add it to the list. This is a different email than the one for ¿What Do I Do All Day? if I had thought it through it would have been ...

Post Convention Blog

I have been roaming the web checking out the attendees of the blogger meet and greet. There are some great write ups out there. Check them out!Personally, I had a good time. For a few moments I had my doubts about how it all would come off, but Jonna and Lin both stepped forward and bailed me out. Jonna held the welcome party and Lin offered up her home for the presentations. The only thing that I would change is that I would make it shorter. The welcome party on Thursday, the presentations and discussions on Friday, followed by that day’s social activities and then a good by breakfast on Saturday, really was plenty. It is a learning experience and can only get better. Where shall we have it next year? It’s amazing how many bloggers we have in Merida, and it seems like there are more and more each day.

still processing it all

The 2nd Annual Latin American Bloggers Meet and Greet has come and gone. I am still thinking about everything. Out of 28 bloggers who expressed interest, 20 of us were able to attend. Nancy and Paul of Countdown to Mexico came from the furthest away in México. Paula and Stephen from the Dodwells Head South are the furthest from their original home country (they are Brits who arrived by way of Canada). Jonna & Mimi of Blah, blah, blah Ginger tied Lin from Crazy, Gone Native for traveling the least, since they graciously opened their homes to the bloggers for the welcome party and the conferences. The blogroll for the event doesn’t match the number of attendees because some of us have more than one blog and some of the bloggers write as a team. I even think I missed a few. Here they are in alphabetical order. Blah, blah, blah Ginger Casual Restaurant Critic-Mérida,Yucatán Countdown to México Crazy, Gone Native Debi ...

note in a bottle

I am awash in a sea of anxiety. Hence, I am sending out this message in a virtual bottle. The Latin American Blogger’s Meet and Greet is next week! I am sure everything will be great. If you are coming and didn’t get an itinerary from me, please email me. If you are coming please RSVP. I sent it out to everyone who said that they wanted to come but when I reviewed who I sent it to, I noticed that some names that weren’t on the sent to line. It may be my email system or it may be just me. I woke up at 2 am, then at 4 and finally at 5 am I got up out of bed. I have a killer headache, probably from lack of sleep. Other than that I don’t feel really stressed, it all seems to be coming together. There had to be some last minute changes but two of my fellow bloggers came forward ...

Life’s little pleasures

We found cornmeal for sale at Pascadeli’s! I had to buy 5 pounds, but it was only $55 pesos so that works out to an okay price. I made cornbread today, we had it with Tinga Poblana and coleslaw. yum.La muchacha told me that when Kennedy was president they used to get food sent from the USA. One of the things that they received was packages of corn meal, which her mother would make into mush for breakfast since it wasn’t much good for anything else. Funny isn’t it? Here in the land of corn, cornmeal is a exotic ingredient. I have all sorts of things that I want to make, tamal en casuela (Cuban style tamale casserole) being one of them. My mouth is watering at the very thought. Corn muffins sounds mighty tasty too. I feel like Templeton, the rat, in Charlotte’s Web (I couldn’t find it in English, but the Spanish version seems more fitting to the ...
