A confession- I’ve been a bit down lately

My house looks like looters came and went. I’ll be the first to admit that I am not the least bit tidy. Too many projects going on at the same time, and a tendency to be distracted. I’ve always said that while no one in their right mind would do surgery in my kitchen, no one would think twice about eating food prepared there. However, if the health department had come in last week, they might not have shut me down as a health hazard but they certainly would have written me a few citations. The state of my house was bad enough that BK worried about me, to the point that she was practicing what she was going to say. Imagine her relief when she came over yesterday and found that I am heading back to normal. My apprenticeship continues

Now that I had my key element for the table, A.M. and I walked  five houses down the street to buy the rest of the lumber and have the legs cut shorter. A.M. had expressed concern that the legs looked too long, but I measured them against my body and I thought that they hit my hip in exactly the same place as our current table. As my husband tells me, if it’s possible to mess something up, an apprentice will find the most creative way to do it. With that sage advice in mind, I compared the legs to the table. I was correct, they were the same height, but I had forgotten that the table top would add another inch. Since the table was already on the tall side, another inch would have made it too high for comfortable dining. So as a neophyte, I decided to follow the plans as given. You can’t always get what you want

Music is not my strong suit, often I wander off in search of a note and deviate to uncharted territory. Lyrics often elude me, but I think that this Rolling Stone song should be mandatory listening for anyone moving to Mexico. Our dining room table seats four comfortably, which means we don’t ever have dinner parties. Informal gatherings with people sitting around the coffee table, plates perched on their laps or just drinks and appetizers but never anything a real table. So I went off in search for either another table the same size and height as the one we already have or a new table entirely. When I use the word new, it’s understood that I mean new to me, not brand new from the store. Turns out that our table is an odd height,a little taller than most tables.
